Research & Development Strategy
Eiffel’s business strategy is to generate revenue from R&D projects in the form of fee-paying feasibility studies, licensing agreements that bring development milestone payments and royalties on product sales. Eiffel adopts a flexible approach to meeting this business objective, maintaining a portfolio of product- and technology-focused projects that are spread across three general areas:
-
client-driven projects,
-
internal product development, and
-
capability development.
For the client-driven programme, Eiffel re-engineers pharmaceutical compounds designated by third parties who then undertake pre-clinical and clinical trials. A licensing agreement for the technology may be negotiated at any stage.
Eiffel is currently focused on client-driven projects. The primary area of interest is in the development of inhaled formulations of therapeutic compounds with improved effectiveness for the treatment of asthma and diabetes. A collaborative project is also underway to assess the technology in the areas of transdermal delivery and immunotherapeutics.
Internal capability and development projects are in the areas of engineering development and scale up, and oral drug products with improved performance characteristics. Eiffel’s strategy for internally driven projects is to build value through reducing the development risk that is perceived by potential client partners, prior to licence negotiations.
